Ivie W. Powell III was born in Memphis, TN and reared in West Memphis, AR. He has been preaching the gospel for fifty-two years in fifteen states and Germany. He and his wife,
Linda, have been married forty-eight years; have one son and a daughter and three grandsons.
Dr. Powell has written for numerous publications and frequently writes articles for Seek the Old Paths publication.
He has spoken on the following lectureships:
Freed Hardeman University,
The Spiritual Sword,
Memphis School of Preaching,
Shenandoah and East Tennessee.
He has extensive experience in radio, television and writes a weekly article for a local paper.
In July 2015, Dr. Powell retired from full-time local work and moved back to their home in West Plains, MO. He preaches each Lord’s Day for the Prairie Grove Church of Christ
in Caulfield, Missouri; writes a weekly article for the Horse Trader and has a one minute radio program (The Word Of Truth) heard twice daily, Monday – Friday. He is also
engaged in conducting gospel meetings. In addition to this, Dr. Powell conducts a marriage enrichment seminar: “Strengthening Your Marriage – Or I Married Who?”
Dr. Powell learned of Theological University of America through his friend Dr. Phil Sanders. One of the highlights of Dr. Powell’s life was speaking at his graduation exercise
May 21, 2004, and was awarded the Ph.D. degree, along with Dr. Jimmy Young and Dr. Phil Sanders. Because of the vision of Dr. Benton and his outstanding faculty, the brotherhood
and the world have been greatly blessed by men who have been well equipped at the Theological University of America.
