Richard D. Melson is a native of Buffalo, NY and has been a preacher of the gospel since 1981. He serves as the evangelist at the church of Christ which meets at 329 Abbey in Dayton, Ohio. Mr. Melson has helped support his preaching through work in the manufacturing, consulting and currently in public education. Richard works with the Dayton Public Schools as the Director, The Office of Information Technology.
Mr. Melson has preached the gospel in many states and several foreign countries, including Jamaica, the Republic of South Africa and the Czech Republic.
Richard lectures regularly on religious topics, and has written many chapters for religious commentaries. He has authored two tracts – Who Is Accountable to God and A Christian Response to Racism as well as First Steps in the Faith (Bible Study book) and We Can Do a Better Job, congregational leadership, especially for the small congregation without an eldership.
Brother Melson has been an adjunct instructor with the Midwestern School of Preaching, teaching classes in Hermeneutics, Introduction to New Testament Greek, Apologetics and Christian Evidences along with textual studies.
Richard is certified Deep Listening Skills Instructor conducting seminars and training sessions in strategic communication skills; he is a FEMA Certified Trainer for Multi-Hazard Emergency Planning for Schools.
Richard and Valerie (Miller) have been married since 1979 and have four children who are all faithful members of the Lord’s church and three grandchildren.
Richard attended SUNY Fredonia; is a graduate of the Southern California School of Evangelism, received his B.A. in Religion from the Summit Theological Seminary, (graduate work at Alabama Christian School of Religion, Houston Graduate School of Theology; Cincinnati Bible College and Seminary); Masters in Religious Education and Doctors degree in Religious Education from The Theological University of America.
Currently sitting for the Certified Educational Technology Leadership (CETL) exam.
