Greg Selby currently serves as an evangelist for the Downtown church of Christ in Norfolk, VA, and a Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering for Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
He was a Baptist minister when he obeyed the Gospel in 1974. He has served churches of Christ, since then, as a teacher, deacon, minister, and elder.
His practice of the philosophy of lifelong education is evident in his pursuit of knowledge in many areas. He believes in the concept of “Renaissance” people, reflecting on the time in history when individuals pursued many different vocations and avocations. He encourages his engineering students and mentees to embrace the “da Vinci effect”…emphasizing that this man was a painter, sculptor, architect, musician, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist, and writer…which enabled him to serve others in many different areas.
Greg holds Bachelor’s degrees in Aerospace Engineering, Psychology, and Theology; a Master’s degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering; and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Theology. He is presently pursuing a Master’s degree in Education (Counseling) from Old Dominion University and a Master’s degree in Theology from TUA. He remarks that the TUA program has helped him rediscover the joy of reading and incorporating material from his studies into his radio, pulpit, and other teaching ministries.
Greg is a published author who has written for the Diversity Times newspaper and whose several books are available on Amazon.com. He is a carpenter, educational consultant, photographer, poet, fashion designer, entrepreneur, and ceramic artist. Daily, he adheres to: “I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me.” (Phil. 4:13)
Greg and Barbara have been married for 46 years and have three sons, Gregory II, Gevell, and Gerron. They reside in Hampton, Virginia.
